Coalition Activities

Consider the Conversation
The Coalition is happy to share the film “Consider the Conversation” with interested groups.  This award-winning documentary film examines multiple perspectives on end-of-life care and includes information and experiences gathered from interviews with patients, family members, doctors, nurses, clergy, social workers, and national experts from around the country.
Groups of 20 or more people who would like to review the film with a member of the Coalition can call Shawn Brennan at 240-777-1350.

Coalition Creates More User Friendly Advance Directives Form
The Coalition created a new, user-friendly advance directive form.  It allows users to designate a health care agent. When individuals cannot make their own medical decisions, the health care agent is the person who make these decisions.  Please refer to Forms page to access this form in English and other languages.

Coalition advocates for passage and implementation of Medical Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (MOLST) in Maryland.
MOLST forms are medical orders for treatment that are transferable across treatment settings. Research shows that using such forms increases the likelihood that patients receive the care they would choose for themselves.

Coalition Participates in National Healthcare Decisions Day
The Coalition participated in National Healthcare Decisions Day.  Over 300 people participated in nine free workshops the Coalition sponsored with host organizations.  During these workshops, medical and legal experts discussed the basics of advance care planning.
